You didn’t really think
I’d tell you my address did you?
Monday 8th September
Dear Mr. Barnett,
Congratulations on your election results!
I am a ten year old student at Scotch College Junior school.
I am doing a big project on smoking statistics.
I have always wondered why politicians do not ban smoking. If you are elected as Premier, would you consider banning smoking?
Banning smoking would save a lot of peoples’ lives and also would save money spent in the Health Department on smoking illnesses. I can understand that maybe people worry about losing votes from people who smoke but can’t understand why this would be as important as saving peoples’ lives. Non-smokers would be more likely to vote for a politician who bans smoking.
It would be really great to hear your comments on this letter. I know you are busy at the moment but I would appreciate your opinion. I can be contacted at the above address or in Year 5T at Scotch College Junior school.
Thankyou for reading this letter,
Yours sincerely,
Hamish de la Hunty.
