In 1998 there were 48 million people in the world that smoked. 24.1% of adults smoked in 1998. 80,000 to 100,000 children begin smoking each day, most of whom live in Asia. One out of three male adults in the world smoke (THAT’S A LOT!). 15 billion cigarettes are sold daily, or 10 million cigarettes are sold each MINUTE. In China, only 4% of women smoke and 67% of men smoke. Unfortunately, 20% of pregnant women smoke which will make their baby very sick from all the smoke going around their mothers’ bodies. In the USA, approximately 25.2% of men smoke and 20.7% of women smoke. In Australia, approximately 30% of men smoke and 27% of women smoke.
